Reflections on this Blog

So, I’m considering how to best use this blog. Until now, I’ve been greatly duplicating the posts I’ve been putting on the CMR main page. And while a bit of that will continue, especially where Memindia news in particular is concerned, I think that the better use of this blog is to be a place for reflection, discussion, and consideration of issues relevant to Memindia: the intersection of media and faith topics. What do you think?

Behind the Scenes

Some notes about what I’ve been up to this last week.

  • Memindia writing: in gearing up for the opening of the CMR store, I’ve been working hard to see that there’s a somewhat respectable amount of inventory in the store to browse (and purchase!)
  • Store set up: I’ve opened an account with a company called Modular Merchant, an ecommerce provider that specializes in digital download delivery and subscription services (two the cornerstones of the Memindia model I’ve created). I’m excited to be working with them and think it quite possible that launch will happen on schedule IN ONE WEEK!

Memindia Forums Up and Running

memindia fish forum logoI’m excited to announce that last night I managed to set up the Memindia Forum, a place to discuss the intersection of media and faith. My hope is that the Forum becomes a place where Memindia can be discussed, new Memindia proposed, and anything related to seeing media through the eyes of faith can be shared.

I invite you to go to the Forum, register a membership there, and begin to contribute. I’ve started a few forums into which you can immediate start filling in topics and questions. Happy posting!

E-Newsletter Starting

cc_mainlogoCatholic Media Resources now has an account with Constant Contact, a very reputable email marketing company, to help get the word out about CMR and all its products (like this one: Memindia) and partners (Soul Play).  I’ve begun setting up the account over there and have added sign up boxes in the sidebars of all three sites.  If you’d like to hear periodic updates from me about what CMR is up to or would like to receive the e-newsletters from one of the more specific lists (Memindia Previews and Soul Play News right now), you can do so through that sign up box.  Of course, feel free to go crazy and subscribe to all of them! The first emails from those e-newsletters should be going out in next couple of weeks.

Memindia News: Welcome & Schedule

Welcome to Memindia.com!

Even a cursory trip around the site will tell you that it’s not anywhere near complete.  So when will things be arriving and Memindia be appearing?

I hope to complete the pages of the website before the end of March (although the Forum might take a bit longer depending on how much customization I decide is necessary).  The Free Samples are being written right now and should appear on the site the first part of April.  I then hope to launch the weekly subscription service by April 12, 2009.  And for those who don’t recognize it: Easter Sunday!  New life in Christ, indeed.  I hope that this site will provide new life for my family’s finances!

Check back often for updates and new pieces.

In the meantime, I’ve just completed the About page, which is really a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions).  That should get you started understanding what this site is all about (appropriately enough given its name).
