FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Memindia?

Memindia is the name I’ve made up (which is pretty much necessary to trademark something, which I’d eventually like to do!) for the ministry media resources I’m creating and selling. Look again at the tag line: finding the MINistry in MEDIA. Get it yet? If not, play this animation:

The easiest way to understand Memindia is to look at one: visit the Free Samples page and see for yourself!

Who could use Memindia?

  • Parents
  • Youth Ministers
  • Directors of Religious Education
  • Directors of Adult Faith Formation
  • RCIA Team Members
  • Priests (want to punch up those homilies?!)
  • Anyone interested in learning more about Catholicism

What comes with a Memindia?

Each Memindia is a three page digital pdf file. (That’s Portable Document Format – a computer file format for text that anyone can open and print with the free Adobe Reader software.)

Rather than read a boring description of the contents, you’ll get the idea much faster by checking out the Free Samples section where you’ll see examples of each of the media we’re currently producing.

Who writes Memindia?

Here’s another of those ‘right now vs. vision of the future’ answers. Right now, I do. Jerry Harrington, Director of Catholic Media Resources (CMR). To read about me, you can visit the About Jerry page of the CMR website.

However, my vision here is that those who receive Memindia look at them and think to themselves: “I could write these. I could write these even better than this Jerry guy. I should be writing these.” And my response will be: “Great! Do it!” I will provide you the template to fill in; you fill it in and submit it. I will offer it on the site and you get a cut of the proceeds. This part of the vision plugs directly into the vision piece above. Apple doesn’t make the media; they sell it in iTunes. For Memindia to be comprehensive (provide resources about every piece of media), the collective wisdom of educated and inspired Catholics must be brought together and then distributed for the benefit of the church. That’s also why a crucial part of this website from launch is the Forum, a place where Catholics can discuss, disagree, and dialogue about all things Memindia. My hope is that the Forum will quickly become a rich source of information, inspiration, and interaction among Catholics committed to seeing our world of media with the eyes of faith.

How do we get Memindia?

  • Free Samples
  • become a Memindia Subscriber
  • purchase Memindia á la carte

What’s a Memindia Subscriber / what are the benefits of subscribing?

Memindia Subscribers sign up for either a monthly or an annual subscription that give them exclusive free download access to Exclusive Memindia.

Exclusive Memindia are written about media new or popular that month and are only available to subscribers while featured. They will be released each week on the following schedule:

  • Music (first Thursday of each month)
  • Movie (second Thursday of each month)
  • Television (third Thursday of each month)
  • Web (fourth Thursday of each month)

Why Thursdays? Because new music and movies on DVD are released on Tuesday. That gives me two days to grab the newest popular media from which to create the Exclusive Memindia – only available to subscribers for a month (after which Exclusive Memindia become regular Memindia and enter general store inventory).

Monthly Subscription: $12, charged at purchase, then every first of the month

Here’s how it works. The Monthly Subscription functions like a Digital Bookshelf, on which four Exclusive Memindia are available at any given time. So when you buy the subscription, you are given a password that gives you access to that ‘bookshelf,’ a webpage where you can download any or all of the four Exclusive Memindia available at that moment. Then each Thursday, we go in, pull the month-old Exclusive Memindia off the shelf, replace it with a brand-spanking new one (according to the media schedule outlined above) and the next time you log in to the bookshelf, you can download the new one (as well as the other three still on the shelf).

Thus, if you subscribe on the third Friday of the month, you would immediately gain download access to that month’s Exclusive Memindia for music, movie, and television (as new ones were put on the shelf on the first, second, and third Thursdays of the month respectively) as well as the previous month’s Exclusive Memindia for web (still on the shelf from last month). Then on the fourth Thursday of that month, we would pull the previous month’s Exclusive Memindia for web off the shelf and replace it with a new Exclusive Memindia for web, where it will sit for four weeks. Thus at any given time you have access to four Exclusive Memindia, each week a new one replacing the previous month’s for that media.

Annual Subscription: $150, charged annually on the year anniversary of your initial subscription purchase

The annual subscription works the same as the monthly, in that each week a new Exclusive Memindia will be available for download. Access to the Exclusive Memindia functions as with the monthly (whenever you purchase the subscription, you have access to four Exclusive Memindia, one in each media, and then each week receive access to new Memindia replacing the previous one of that media). If you skipped the monthly subscription description, read it for an expanded example of how this works.

Furthermore, Annual Subscribers receive a Subscriber Discount: 10% off everything in the store, automatically reflected in the store when you are logged in as an annual subscriber customer.

How much do regular Memindia cost?

Á La Carte Pricing

  • Memindia: $3
  • Custom Request Memindia: $20 (a Memindia tailored specifically to your needs/request)

Where and how do I purchase Memindia?

Memindia are sold through the Catholic Media Resources Store, which is set to launch on August 25. Once that store is live, you can visit there to learn all the mechanics of the subscription process as well as payment options. Prior to August 25, a new Free Sample will be appearing on the site once a week.
